We want you to know a place. We are a small travel and outdoors journal with a focus on local ecology as influenced by natural processes and human intervention. We emphasize ecoregions as a starting point to learn about local habitats. We got our very early start shooting photos for fun on the trails in Colorado, and are now based out of Massachusetts, with regional touchpoints in Florida, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Washington, Ontario, and India.
We try to write our articles with the following focuses:
- Helping the reader understand what makes a place ecologically special.
- Touching on personal experience in a place as a way to relate to the reader what they may also experience.
- Encouraging readers to explore a variety of outdoor spaces to mitigate the impacts of overcrowding, and honestly describing how busy a place tends to be.
- Explaining what level of human history and impact has occurred in a place so the traveler may better understand what is “natural” and what has been shaped by humans.
- Offering some additional travel logistics to help the reader decide whether to travel to a place or plan their own trip.
- Wherever possible, emphasizing what behavior will help the reader best respect the location they are visiting, whether that’s leaving no trace, avoiding private property, keeping distance from the wildlife, or staying on the trail.
